RATANGAD: A ROMANTIC NIGHTMARE

RATANWADI: The beauty of a monsoon trek is its unpredictability. And you can hope to expect the unexpected every step of the way, if you are on a trek to Ratangad. We did, that’s how we know for sure. For the entire two days we were there last weekend it drizzled, it rained, and it poured depending on the rain god’s whimsical mood swings.

However much it tried, the rain could not dampen our spirits. No way. But the wind did. And how? By evening it looked like the rain and wind were competing with each other to destroy our spirited resolve.

If it wasn’t for the caves we would have frozen to death in the milky white mist and the howling wind. So we did what best we could in those trying circumstances. We ate. We slept. And we came back. Of course, some of our guys played antakshari late into the night rocking the others into a fitful sleep.

But that is the fun of going on a monsoon trek. If everything were to happen according to plan, we could have seen a lot many things and probably been treated to some glorious views, but then we wouldn’t have had a monsoon experience. Right?
